This day was celebrated not only to spread awareness about the disease but also to remind the general public and the governments that HIV has not gone away. It was also an opportunity for IHI team, the ministry of health and other stakeholders (USAID Tujenge jamii, NOPE, AGAPE etc) to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV, and remember those who have died from HIV-related illness
2021 World AIDs Day Theme
The theme of World AIDS Day 2021 is “End inequalities. End AIDS”. With a special focus on reaching people left behind, WHO and its partners are highlighting the growing inequalities in access to essential HIV services.
We can still end AIDS by 2030, but only if we act courageously and together to take on inequalities.
